Super Bowl Sunday wasn’t the usual fun with football and friends after a bad car accident left a mother unconscious, and a brave four-year-old deciding to go for help.
Averie Carrion dug her way through the snow where her mother’s car had crashed and then walked a quarter mile in search of help. Her mother, Jamie, had put Averie and her little brother, Abel, in the car and was on their way to their home a few hours away. But the roads were icy and she skidded on some black ice and rolled the truck, landing it on the passenger side with a caved in roof. Jamie was unconscious and the children, safe in their car seats, were upset and crying.
When Jamie woke up, she realized her daughter wasn’t there, and then found out she had crawled through the broken window and gone for help to the nearest home. The spunky four year old told the home’s residents that her mom and brother were hurt and needed help.
The family wrapped her up in blankets and the father went to see what was wrong. They found the accident scene, with emergency crews already there, and the mother crying because she didn’t know where Averie was. She was overjoyed to see her with the family and to know she was ok.
Since then, Averie has been awarded for her bravery with a trip to New York to talk about it on TV where everyone was impressed with the bravery of such a little girl.
