In spite of hitting the big one, a $1 million lottery prize, the spunky 21 year old waitress says she isn’t quitting her day job. Alexandra Chaar works earning tips as a waitress at a Mexican eatery in Clearwater, Florida. She claims she loves where she works.
The winning ticket was part of the state’s Monopoly Scratch Off game. Chaar purchased the ticket at a local Food Mart in Clearwater Beach that she has been frequenting recently and where she has become a recognized and regular customer. The store had not sold any big winners until Chaar’s win. What is her reason for buying the tickets? Chaar told lottery officials she just felt lucky. It is a good thing she acted on that feeling.
Chaar elected to her receive her prize in a one-time lump sum dispersal, netting her $700,000. A sum like that often provides the means for big lifestyle changes such as a new car, home or vacations. Chaar doesn’t appear to be making many changes at all. Her life will continue pretty much as it had prior to winning the instant lottery prize.
In addition to working for tips as a waitress, Chaar maintains a straight A average at St. Petersburg College. She plans to use the money to help pay for college. In the meantime, regular customers and new ones can still find her waiting tables and doing a job she loves.
