Yesterday we reported on what could have been one of the biggest advancements in Alzheimer’s research in recent years and today we have a follow up to the story. Government officials announced today that, given a variety of factors, multiple Alzheimer’s research facilities would begin to receive significant funding increases in the coming months. This is absolutely great news for everyone because additional funding almost always means an increase in possible or probable treatments for various illnesses.
Alzheimer’s is currently fairly well funding, but many analysts say that the additional $50 million will help an unbelievable amount. The influx of cash should, and will help researchers continue with projects that they were expecting to end and if just one of those projects turns out to be successful it will have been a worthwhile investment from the government funding projects. Not only are these Alzheimer’s research facitilies receiving additional funding for 2012 research projects, they have also been promised significant increases in funding in 2013 as well. The combined funding increase will likely bring plenty of successful tests and experiments to the industry which should help the consumer market substantially. This is absolutely great news as it might finally bring an end to one of the least understood and most painful sicknesses running rampant right now. The various research groups have not commented on the funding though we assume that they are surely quite excited about the addition of so much money.
