Everyone cheered when Baby Jessica was pulled from the well she had been trapped in for two and a half days in 1987. Now Baby Jessica turns 25 on Sat. and stands to inherit a trust fund that is over 800,000 dollars. Jessica still lives in Midland Texas not even 2 miles from the site of her rescue.
Jessica McClure now Jessica McClure Morales is a stay at home mom of two children ages 4 and 18 months. Her daughter is the same age she was when she fell down the well.
In October 1987, Reba and Chip McClure were just teenagers trying to stay afloat in the midst of the oil bust. Reba was visiting with her sister and left Jessica in the yard for a second to answer the phone. In that short time Baby Jessica found an 8-inch opening in a well and fell 22 feet to be trapped while rescuers tried frantically to save her.
Jessica has no memory of her time in the well at all and says that she doesn’t let it affect her life at all. She remembers none of the 15 operations she had after she was rescued. The only reminders are the scar from her hairline to the bridge of her nose where her head rubbed against the wall of the well. She also lost a toe from gangrene where her foot was wedged above her head for the time it took to rescue her.
During the entire ordeal, viewers around the world were glued to their TV screens praying for Baby Jessica. Cards, letters, and donations poured in to the tune of 800, 00 dollars in the end. Jessica will inherit that trust fund on her 25th birthday.
Jessica is thinking about starting a college fund for her two children and has been advised by her father to seek the advice of a financial advisor. He has also said that Jessica is a well-grounded and down to earth person and this will not change her at all.
