This week Google treated one special boy to an incredible trip to New York City thanks to the doodle he entered in a contest being put on by Google. The contest is usually run each year and the goal is to find a unique and interesting doodle that can be used for the Google homepage display. Each year the contest is wildly popular and it has been getting even more popular in the past few years.
This year’s doodle contest was all about jobs kids would like to have in the future; the winning job drawn by Matteo was an astronaut. According to Google well over 100,000 doodles were entered into the contest and only 40 finalists were selected; out of those 40 Matteo was the only winner who’s doodle will be shown on the Google homepage.
According to Google each of the finalists’ drawings will also be put on display in an art gallery thanks to Google. Google has also put each of those doodles online on a special webpage as a way for the kids to see their own work online.
Matteo reportedly enjoyed his trip to New York and says he never imagined actually winning the contest from Google. Matteo also says that just like his doodle shows he does in fact hope to become an astronaut someday; as for now he has got plenty of time before he needs to start preparing for that, he is only a second grader after all.
