Whilst Kris Doubledee was driving one day, he noticed a homeless man walking around with no shoes on.
He said, “I asked the Lord, just ease some of his pain ‘cos he’s got no shoes, right?”
He then went about his day.
The next day, Kris noticed the same man around the same place he saw him the day before…still with no shoes. The weather wasn’t that great either.
Kris was having none of it. What he did? He pulled the bus over, got off and handed the shoes he was wearing to the guy.
“I didn’t get a chance to see if they fit or not”, Kris says, “but I’m pretty sure they did fit him”.
It’s got to be better than nothing, even if it’s just the intention itself.
Kris got back on the bus, wearing only his socks.
Remember, he’s a bus driver, so there were passengers on the bus when he did this. One of the passengers interviewed (Denise) said she got weepy over his act of kindness. She then shared what she saw with her work colleagues and also a community website. The good news spread – it went viral.
Kris is quite laidback and humble about it all: “slow down a little bit and pay attention to your brother or your sister, you know, and help ‘em out”.
Lovely guy. Loving gesture towards a stranger, towards a brother as he would say, which is true.
