Baldness is a very real medical issue for millions of people and while it might not be life threatening or even affect a person’s health it is still a big deal to many people. Fortunately for the millions of men and women suffering from baldness there might now be a potential treatment or cure that would permanently prevent the bald spot from returning.
The news came from Columbia University’s medical research center from a team of researchers that say they have managed to grow cells that will grow new hair follicles. Essentially doctors were able to take cells from a patient and effectively clone them in a lab, when the new cells grew they had healthy and functional hair follicles that would successfully grow new hairs for the patient. This is absolutely great news for millions of people suffering from baldness or hair loss because it will likely be developed into a useable and affordable treatment. It might not be a major medical breakthrough in terms of life saving or disease prevention but it is definitely a sign of just how quickly medical science is advancing. If you suffer from hair loss or if hair loss runs in your family this is definitely good news for sure.
