Contrary to what the news on TV might often impart, there is good news in plenty of places. Take this couple, for example. Carlos and Barbara decided to go to San Francisco for Valentine’s Day. Little did they know what they would find when they were on the famous Golden Gate Bridge: a black camera bag containing not only a high-quality camera but also roughly $11,000 in cash.
The couple didn’t actually know what was in the bag at the time. They hadn’t checked.
After waiting around for about an hour to see if the owner would come back for it, it was then that Barbara looked inside and realised what it actually contained.
They took the bag and handed it into the police station. They were there for two hours, which left them ravenous as one of the reasons they’d gone to San Francisco was to have a romantic dinner.
The police managed to trace the owner, a Chinese tourist. He’d been taking care of the money for family and had forgotten the bag.
In gratitude for the couple’s kind gesture, the tourist and his family travelled down in person to thank them. He also mailed them a cheque.
Even though Valentine’s Day didn’t go quite as planned for Carlos and Barbara, they’re happy things panned out the way they did. Barbara said, “My heart is resting now because the people got their money and their bag”.
