Imagine being at a train station, going about your business, paying your fare, maybe grabbing a cup of coffee, waiting for your train. And then this happens: a song from The Sound of Music suddenly comes on and someone leaps to the middle of the concourse and starts dancing. Then another person joins him and starts dancing too, and then another and another …and before you know it a whole crowd of people are in the middle of the station dancing to ‘Do Re Mi’.

You pinch yourself. It’s not a dream. You didn’t fall down the rabbit hole. There really are people dancing in front of you.

That’s exactly what happened one day at Central Station in Antwerp, Belgium. A flash mob of 200 dancers took to the concourse for a magical four minutes, dancing to ‘Do Re Mi’ as passengers looked on in initial surprise and then glee. Some passengers took pictures, others clapped, others did their own little two-step!

The 200 dancers took just two rehearsals to orchestrate the child-like, playful energy that unfolded that day. And it’s had millions of happy hits on YouTube in its wake.

Watch. Enjoy. Remind yourself that life and humanity can be such a beautiful, exciting, exhilarating thing.
