Miss. Colorado Blair Griffith and her mom Bonita traveled to Burr Ridge Illinois on Tuesday to pick out gowns for the Miss. USA pageant in June. Dress designer Mac Duggal is donating the gowns to Miss. Colorado.
Mac Duggal owns eleven labels and has outfitted stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Vanna White along with a host of pageant contestants. Duggal met Blair in January and was impressed with her drive and determination.
Blair Griffith is an art school graduate who recently fell on some very hard times. Her father died from prostate cancer and then shortly after her mother had a heart attack and was soon dropped by her insurance company. The medical bills, mortgage, and student loans kept piling up after Blair lost her job. She and her mother were evicted in November.
Through it all Blair has kept up her spirits and remains positive. She is determined to meet her goals in life. She lost the Miss Colorado pageant three times before finally winning on her fourth try and will compete in Miss USA in June.
This is a dream come true for Blair Griffith and Mac Duggal knew she could not afford the gown for the pageant. He had her and her mother flown to his store and had a variety of gowns made especially for Blair to choose from. He also supplied the gowns for the other activities Blair will be in.
The gown Blair chose for the pageant however will not be revealed until the pageant in June.
