However, it’s likely that no parent ever thought that a disposable diaper could save their child’s life – but in the case of an 18 month old in Brazil, they did.
A little boy in Brazil was climbing up on the couch in his home while his parents had briefly left the room and managed to push out the screen and fall out the window there. The child then started to fall the 30 foot drop to the ground.
Remarkably, the boy was to survive his fall with little or no injuries thanks to the diaper he was wearing.
During his fall, his disposable diaper got caught on a security spike attached to the building’s wall. The baby hung there for a few minutes, but the diaper started to come off and he started to fall again.
Somehow, that turned the diaper into a sort of parachute and he had a much easier landing than if he had fallen straight down in one fall. The diaper had cushioned his fall and saved the child’s life.
The boy was treated at a local hospital for some minor bone fractures, but is otherwise in good condition and should have a complete recovery – all thanks to a disposable diaper.
So, the next time you hear someone bad mouthing disposable diapers due to their affect on the environment just tell them the story of a little boy, a long fall and how a disposable diaper saved his life.
