For the past few months Facebook has been under investigation by the FTC regarding a variety of security and privacy concerns which have brought thousands of complaints. Today the case officially came to an end as Facebook agreed to the rules laid out by the FTC in the latest ruling.
Under Facebook’s new agreement there will be consistent privacy audits and more important, users will finally have control of what information is released to whom. This is great news for everyone online as it will more than likely set the long standing precedent regarding user rights and privacy online. No longer will Facebook be allowed to do whatever they please with user data as now users will actually be able to regulate what is private and what is not.
Thousands of Facebook users worldwide have cheered at the result of the FTC ruling because it is the first time that Facebook has finally been forced into following some privacy restrictions. The news has spread fast around the social network and overall the results are very positive as everyone is happy to finally hear that Facebook is going to put an end to Facebook’s less than desirable user privacy rules. No word on when exactly any major changes are coming but for now the millions of Facebook users rejoice for they have finally regained control of their own private data online.
