The money was in a set of seven metal ammo cases hidden in the attic and the Ferrins found it when they started checking things out in the house they had just bought in the Salt Lake City suburb of Bountiful. It turns out that the previous owner’s father had been stashing away money for his grandkid’s education, but he didn’t tell anyone.
The Ferrins though said that even though it was tempting, they knew they could not keep the money in good conscious and had to return it. The man’s son said he had known his dad sometimes stashed away money, but had no idea that much was hidden in the house. He said he had once found other hidden cash in the house taped under a drawer, so thought he had gotten it all.
The previous owners were surprised the Ferrins had returned the cash and said it was a story their grandkids would likely be talking about for years to come.”
Ferrin just shrugged it off and said he knew that since he was a father too he would have been upset if he had collected that amount of money and his family didn’t get to use it the way he intended, so he is just happy he was the one to find it and could get it back to its rightful owner.
It’s certain the owner’s dad is up there in heaven smiling down at the Ferrins for their good deed.
