FDA Approves Epilepsy Medication

Epilepsy affects a significant number of people around the globe, many of which are young children. Unfortunately for years now there has been no approved medication for children under the age of 12, but today that has all changed thanks to the FDA’s approval of Fycompa.

Fycompa has been in testing for years and now that it has received FDA approval it will finally be on the market for doctors to prescribe. The medication showed a very significant reduction in symptoms and seizures for children under 12 years old, which is precisely what lead to the eventual approval of the drug. Doctors and researchers have been pushing for Fycompa’s approval for quite some time now and now that it has finally been approved it will likely be available in the very near future.

This is absolutely great news for parents of children with epilepsy as it might finally be the medication they’ve been waiting for. It is not often that a major drug breakthrough comes around and this might be a very big deal for millions of people. In the coming months doctors are expected to continue reporting on the effectiveness and success of the drug with real world patients. Doctors are incredibly happy with the FDA’s approval and are hopeful that it will perform as well in the real world as it has in testing.
