E.T. is his name. And vocalising is his game! A roar here, a growl there – he’s got it covered.

When you watch the video, he initially sounds like he’s burping after eating a rather satisfying seven-course meal. Actually, come to think of it, close your eyes and it could be someone playing the trumpet or the didgeridoo really badly! It’s certainly not a burp though, not unless it’s a really long burp with melody and rhythm!

The woman standing next to him as he gives it his impassioned all: she seems to be the one giving him directions. You hear her say “growl” which he does, then “sputter” which he does too. He seems to understand what’s being asked of him which is pretty cool.

Best part is when he whistles!

30-year-old E.T. lives at Tacoma’s Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Washington. He’s affectionately called E.T. because of his wrinkled similarity to the lovable little alien of the same name.

Talented big fella.
