Valentine’s Day is a special event for many people, unfortunately it can also be painful or sad for others that aren’t in a relationship at the time. One student, Hayden Godfrey, wanted to do something about that to try and make the day a little brighter for everyone and he absolutely achieved his goal. What Hayden did was pretty simple, but made a huge impact on the other students in his school, he bought a flower for every single girl at his high school.
Hayden purchased 900 carnations online, had them delivered to his school, and then hand delivered them to every girl for Valentine’s Day. He says that the gesture was something he wanted to do to show everyone that every individual is special and he definitely achieved that goal. He says that it took quite a few hours to pass out the 900 carnations to all of the girls, but the smiles and hugs he saw while doing it made the entire effort worthwhile. Of course it didn’t come cheap either, his total investment came close to $500, which is quite a big bill for a high school kid working at McDonalds.
After passing out all of the flowers Hayden took some time to talk with all of the girls he had surprised, many of them were thankful and very happy with the surprise. Dozens of people understood his desire to make everyone happy and to make sure everyone knew they were special, since after all that is the goal of Valentine’s Day. The school also played a part in the surprise, obviously, since it was quite a task to hand them out. They made it all possible by giving him access to classrooms and interrupting classes so he could pass out the flowers.
No word yet on whether Hayden plans to continue this tradition, but his girlfriend definitely supports it. She knew about the plan and thought it was a great gesture and very romantic, so she encouraged him to make it happen. It is pretty impressive to see somebody so young step up to the plate and make everyone around him happy, especially at his own significant expense. Hayden is a great kid and is making headlines for his huge act of kindness this Valentine’s Day.
