Late last year Hostess Bakeries shut down operations following an incredibly drawn out bankruptcy process that essentially left the company with no other options. The entire ordeal put thousands of people out of jobs due to the official vote from multiple labor unions , but now it looks like those that lost their jobs may start getting them back, at least some former employees will.
Hostess itself is still technically shut down but a few of the major product lines received financial backing from two different private equity firms. Hostess and the financers are hoping to see the company begin hiring as soon as May 2013 and they’re hopeful that the first line of products should be on shelves sometime in June of this year. Obviously this is good for anyone that loved Hostess products, but it is even better news for the tens of thousands of employees that lost their jobs following the bankruptcy.
The exact extent of how many people will be rehired is still unknown but they’re hopeful that in the coming months Hostess will manage to break out of the previous bankruptcy and become a profitable company. This is great news for anyone affected by the loss of the company, and the next few months should be very interesting to see for Hostess.
