But miraculously, her two-month pregnancy was intact and unharmed. Pierre suffered a spinal cord accident, two broken arms, a fractured spleen, and two strokes. She has undergone four surgeries since the accident. And still the unborn little boy hung on for dear life.
Little TJ was born three weeks ago, healthy and happy despite the dangers of a paralyzed mom giving birth to him. The labor itself was dangerous since Pierre couldn’t feel any of it.
Every parent feels their infant is a miracle, but a three-week-old baby named TJ may be even more deserving of the label. His mother was pregnant with him when she was in a car crash that killed two people and left her paralyzed.
Since August, she has had surgery after surgery, trying to recover from the crash, and worrying about how she would deliver a baby while she was paralyzed. Three weeks ago, TJ was born. His survival has amazed his family and his medical team.
His father, Tony Pierre, agrees that his little boy is definitely a “miracle child.” He says that there must be a reason that TJ is supposed to be here and someday maybe he will find out what it is. For now, he is just happy his wife and son are alive.
The boy is missing a bone in his leg, but doctors say it isn’t related to the car crash and will do an operation on him when he is two years old to correct the problem.
