At 95 years old, Ida Keeling’s the oldest sprinter in the US. You wouldn’t know it to look at her though. She doesn’t look 95 at all.
Ida was 67 when she started sprinting, proving that it’s never too late to start something. She initially trained with teens which naturally made her the oldest. It probably made a very unique running group. Plus who wouldn’t want her to be part of their group. She seems to have such spirit.
The interviewer looks at a picture of her sprinting at 80 and tells her, “you were just a puppy then”.
To which she replies “I feel like a puppy everyday”.
You can also see the medals she’s won on the mantelpiece.
Ida keeps in further shape by using a stationary bike, a set of small dumbbells and a jog down the halls of her apartment block.
She counts her blessings often. It keeps her focused (and probably keeps her centred too).
She’s one heck of a woman. An inspiration. And can most likely outrun some people half her age.
