Adrianne Haslet-Davis was one of the thousands of runners in the Boston Marathon back in 2013 when more than 260 people were injured by bombs near the finish line. Davis was not only one of the runners, she was also one of those that were injured; despite losing half of her leg in the bombing Davis is doing her best to be an inspiration to everyone. Davis was an avid dancer and runner before she lost half her leg, and now, 3 years later, she’s ready to run again. While still in the hospital after the bombing Davis said she would go back and re-run the marathon and 2016 is the year she’ll finally make that happen.
Thanks to Limbs-For-Life, Davis has had great access to some of the best prosthetics on the market. Limbs-For-Life helped make Davis’ recovery possible and that’s why she’s taking this opportunity to raise awareness and show the world just what can be done with prosthetics. Her training has been going well and she’s been making great steps towards accomplishing a complete marathon run, her family says she’s absolutely determined to make it a reality this year.
Of course this isn’t Davis’ first return to the Boston Marathon, in 2014 she completed the last few blocks of the marathon with other survivors. The year after, in 2015, Davis danced across the finish line to show that her spirits are still strong and that she was finally able to dance again. This year will finally be the year she finishes the complete marathon, and she’s adamant that nothing will stop her. Shortly after the tragedy Davis and other survivors felt that they’d never be able to walk again and would never lead normal lives but now she’s happy to show just how much her life has returned to normal.
It’s truly inspirational to see just how much effort Davis is putting into making her life normal again, even after following such a tragic event. That is exactly the message that she wants to convey, with enough hard work and determination everything in your life can go the way you want it to. In addition to training for the marathon Davis has begun a career as a travelling inspirational speaker as well as continuing her professional dancing career. Keep an eye out this year for Adrianne Davis to make headlines at the 2016 Boston Marathon, because you’ll definitely see her crossing the finish line, and she says that she’ll definitely be smiling at the end.
