Tyrone Curry would be to some people a dream come true. He recently gave his boss 40,000 dollars. The money is going towards a brand new track for the high school where Tyrone has worked for 34 years.
Tyrone Curry is the janitor and track coach for the high school. However he doesn’t have to work. 5 years ago Tyrone won the Washington state lottery to the tune of 3.4 million dollars. Still Curry keeps his job.
He says that he always swore that if he ever won any money he would buy the school a new track. That is what he is doing now. The kids are what keeps Curry young and he feels that he is giving something back to them by getting them a new track.
At the end of this year after working at the school for 34 years Tyrone Curry is retiring. He says it will be hard but he will be around to see the new track and the kids running it. Curry is planning to run for the school board after retirement.
Senior Devante Botello says that Curry goes above and beyond in the sports he coaches. All he could think to say was thanks. It is apparent that Curry will be missed.
Loyalty like Curry’s is mostly unheard of in these days and times. It is nice to see someone who really cares about the kids and the school that they work for.
A youth sports grant will provide 75,000 dollars of the money for the new track.
