A Seattle based medical research group released a set of findings today that suggest massages may have more medical and pain relief qualities than ever considered before. Amazingly according to the study consistent or even infrequent back massages lead to dramatic reductions in back pain for patients facing chronic back pain problems.
The results come as a major surprise to many as massage has always been considered to be a short term pain reliever by many in the medical industry. Not only did this report confirm that massage therapy works it also confirmed that massage therapy can significantly reduce the amount of crippling pain patients feel even years after stopping with the treatment.
According to researchers associated with the study the entire group was even surprised by the results. The hypothesis behind the study was that massage would be slightly better than average when it comes to pain relief but the findings indicate that massage is actually well above average even in the long term findings.
For millions of people with chronic back pain these findings could be a much needed source of pain relief. Many doctors may now begin suggesting or even prescribing massage therapy as a form of back pain. Further studies as planning in order to better understand why massage is so effective but at this time researchers are simply happy that they have found what appears to be an effective treatment for chronic back pain. As more research is available further medical reports will be published.
