Just when you thought it could only happen in films, life dishes out something to the contrary. In the little German city of Braunschweig, a mysterious person has been leaving envelopes of cash lying around at various charities in and around the town. No one has a clue who the donor is – male, female, young or old – but so far 190,000 euros has been given in total.
He or she is being referred to as a “modern-day Robin Hood”. Might be accurate or not depending on whether this person stole from the rich to give to the poor. For all we know, it could be his/her personal money.
Whoever it is has obviously left the money where it can be found, and where it can be found by the right people too. For example, an envelope containing 10,000 euros was left for a church, behind the hymn books. Maybe this hints at the possibility that the donor could be a local.
It’s a natural part of human curiosity to want to know who’s committing these acts of generosity. But more valuable is the act itself along with the difference the donations will make (have made). Maybe that’s why the donor insists on remaining anonymous. Could be more than one donor though. Who knows?
