The cold hand of technology is slowly but surely creeping into the world of performing arts. A new and different Lincoln Center app is now available as a free download on the iTunes store that will enable users to be informed of current and coming events and even purchase tickets directly from their phone. Located on the Upper West Side at 132 West 65th Street, Lincoln Center is home to the New York City Ballet, the Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera and the prestigious Juilliard School.
The phone app contains a map portion, which familiarizes users with Lincoln Center’s 16-acre campus and indicates public restrooms, subway stations and dining options, which can be reserved through the app. Perhaps coolest of all is the feature called Secrets about Lincoln Center. It tells listeners how many gallons gush every minute through the signature fountain, which was featured in the movie Moonstruck. You can also discover the fact that the new film center has the largest LED screen on public display in America.
Lincoln Center has transformed New York’s Upper West Side into a cultural mecca unlike any other found anywhere and can boast of being the world’s leading performance arts center. All patrons, whether young or old, established theatergoers or new fans, are attracted to and connected by the many dynamic advances in technology. The bridge between technological progress and everyday culture gets shorter every day, and now at Lincoln Center, every night as well!
