The cupcake shop opened last November as a stepping-stone for Kambree into the difficult working world into which she has both fallen and blossomed. She works at the store every day after school and loves to help her mother bake and run the cash registers.
Krisha and Kambree are deeply committed to helping others who suffer from the same medical condition, and all of the sales from their vanilla bean cupcakes go to the One Small Voice Foundation, an organization dedicated to combating this little known disease.
The Cupcake Hut has a dynamic menu that changes every day. Krisha and Kambree try to include as many dietary considerations as possible, and some days vegan and gluten-free cupcakes reign supreme on the list of goodies for sale. The most popular flavors include: red velvet, rocky road and strawberry daiquiri.
Kambree may be handicapped, but don’t tell her that. In 2010, she was named Little Miss New Mexico and her week is filled with piano lessons, gymnastics, horseback rides and snow skiing. She attends a public school in Las Cruces in a special program for the visually impaired
The American dream realized comes in many different forms, and sometimes, as is the case with the ever popular Cupcake Hut, that dream is very sweet indeed.
