New Ear Implants May Be Significant Improvement
Cochlear implants are becoming incredibly common among the hearing impaired. Due to the small size and high quality of these devices they have really become the most common hearing improvement method available. Fortunately this week a company came out with a design that will significantly improve the quality of Cochlear implants while also reducing their size.
The biggest improvement of the new design is the appearance. Many people are hesitant to get Cochlear implants due to the externally exposed microphone but this new design will entirely eliminate that. The proposed solution would move the microphone, battery, and everything else into a hidden inner ear location which would greatly improve the reception as well as the appearance of the device.
Medical experts and doctors around the world say this will truly be the future of hearing improvements if it works as planned. The price is expected to go down, the device is going to be significantly smaller, and in nearly every way it will be superior. Millions of hearing impaired people are hopeful that this is going to be the future because it will finally free them from the larger implants they currently have to deal with and that is obviously great news.
This is also great news for anyone that simply suffers from hearing loss due to old age. Cochlear implants were generally reserved for those affected by some sort of disability but this new design will likely bring the smaller Cochlear implants to millions more people that will benefit greatly from them.

Rapper Feeds Millions With Ongoing Donation-- Source: 50Cent
50 Cent is an incredibly well known rapper and despite what many people seem to think about the entire rap genre he is a caring and passionate man. Shortly after visiting Africa last year 50 Cent vowed to do something to help the children that were so desperately in need of help and that is exactly what he has done with his new energy drink brand.
Earlier this month 50 Cent officially launched his new energy drink which was meant to help raise funds for children in Africa and in just under a month he has already managed to raise enough money for millions of meals to feed the children. Thanks to an ongoing commitment from 50 Cent and others in charge of the energy drink program it looks like millions of starving children in Africa will finally be receiving the food they so desperately need.
This comes as good news in light of many other bits of bad press surrounding so many other celebrities in this position. 50 Cent has set out to make a name for himself as one of the most generous and caring rappers and this series of energy drink donations is definitely doing the job. No word on exactly how much money is expected to be donated to help feed children in Africa but experts say the influx of millions of dollars in donations from a single source will simply have an astounding effect on the charity. 50 Cent is also encouraging others to help, which will surely drive up donations even more.

Somalia Food Aid Scheduled To Begin-- Source: telegraph.co.uk
Among some of the worst drought in Africa in the past 50 years Somali residents are finally about to receive some much needed aid in the form of airlifted food. All of Somalia and other nearby areas have been experiencing major food droughts through the past months and food supplies are virtually nonexistent so for many of the people in the area these food supplies are truly a gift that could not come at a better time.
The food supply will be coming from a variety of sources, though most of the money and donations came from the UN and the United States. The food will begin being transported into the area in the next two days and the food aid is expected to continue for as long as necessary to keep the population fed.
Currently many children and families are essentially starving due to the absolute lack of food. Thanks to the efforts of the UN and United States these people will finally be receiving the critical help they have so desperately needed for the past few months. Refugees from other areas will also be included in the aid program and the UN is currently working to expand the amount of aid they can provide as much as possible. As more donations and food begin to be available the UN will obviously increase how much is being flown into the drought stricken area although for now they will simply do what they can to help out.

Advancement in Hearing Aids Could Help Thousands
For the longest time hearing aids have basically been a “one size fits all” style of dealing with the problem. Due to the complicated technology behind hearing aids it was nearly impossible to fine tune them to what a specific patient needed; fortunately some newly developed software may let doctors do just that.
The project was led by a research team at the University of Essex that began researching after realizing that nearly all hearing aid patients had numerous complaints. What they found is that current hearing aid technology simply amplifies sounds rather than analyzing or separating sound. As a result they set out to fix this through adjustable and customizable software settings that would be applied to hearing aids.
The idea behind the software is that it would work much like a tailor does with clothing; the software would allow doctors to accurately determine which sounds and pitches need more amplification or assistance and through minor adjustments these small changes would lead to significant improvements in hearing. The software design is reportedly finished and functions just as well as anticipated according to the college research team.
Unlike many other projects like this one the hearing aid customization project is actually moving towards a real world application as well. Numerous hearing aid companies have begun working to implement the adjustable settings into their hearing aids so sometime in the near future it will likely be possible to purchase adjustable and customizable hearing aids that can be tweaked to match your needs.
