Kiera Brinkley has no arms and no legs. She lost them when she was two years old after she caught an infection.
She loves to dance. That she dances at all is beyond inspirational, every movement a lesson in courage and willpower and possibility. Every spin, every roll, every arch.
It is this talent, passion and determination that got her into the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York when she was 16, fulfilling a long-time dream of hers. Basically, going to Juilliard is like the Stanford or Harvard of performing arts, so it’s no small feat.
“When people look at me, they just see the wheelchair…” “…but I think when they see me dance, they actually see me”.
It was so beautiful watching Kiera dance with the other dancers – in unison – connected by movement and passion. And the bit at the end, when she stood upside down – shows how versatile and resilient the body is and how resilient of a spirit she has.
