When brothers Tony and Andrew Swedberg were heading out to see their sister they didn’t expect to be rescuing a man trapped in a sinking car, but that’s exactly what was to occur.
The two were almost to their sister’s home when they saw a crowd of people around a pond and wondered what was going on. There, they saw a car in the wter and a man trapped in the car, so one of them jumped in to help.
The water was cold and deep and the car was about 30 feet down in the pond. He had to break the car window with a tire iron someone gave him. He could see the 74 year old man in the back seat and pulled him out after a struggle to get him out of the car. The man was in shock and couldn’t help them.Their mother watched in shock as her boys worked to save the man in the car.
The water was up to the man’s neck before they were able to release him from the car, a 2000 Hyundai, which promptly sank to the bottom of the pond.
After they dragged the man from the pond, they noticed that they too were injured, one of them had a bleeding hand and the other had blood gushing from their elbow. Everyone was abit shook up, but especially the man they had just rescued. An ambulance arrived to take the man to the hospital and also bandaged up the two brother’s injuries.
A Tampa police dive team recovered the car and it turns out the man who was trapped had lost control on the wet grass and spun out into the pond
After being bandaged in an ambulance, the brothers finally made it to their sister’s house, where they both said they took a hot shower but still felt cold from their ordeal.
