Chronic back pain is a very real issue for millions of people worldwide and unfortunately at this point most doctors say that there simply is nothing that can be done about it in many cases. Fortunately a research study released today may have some promising results. According to the research, study participants that engaged in yoga classes on a weekly basis saw a reduction in their chronic back pain in terms of severity and frequency of pain.
This is big news as it once again confirms that what many had hoped to be an alternative medicine does in fact work. Yoga is based entirely around the idea of stretching and relaxing and for one reason or another researchers say that this does in fact help reduce or eliminate much of the chronic back pain experienced by many people.
Obviously one study is not enough to completely guarantee success but in general a large majority of participants found that yoga was an effective way to reduce or control their chronic back pain. Because of this many doctors will likely continue recommending yoga to patients with back pain issues in the future. Multiple follow up studies are being conducted in order to figure out exactly what it is about yoga that is so effective at eliminating back pain but for now millions of people are simply happy to hear that they may find some relief through such a simple activity as yoga.
