Mikaila Ulmer might only be 11 years old, but that doesn’t mean she’s not making a big impact on the world. She’s been in the new multiple times now for her innovative business selling lemonade and now she’s really made it to the top. The entire endeavor started when Mikaila was stung by some bees, her mother suggested learning about them, and that’s exactly what Mikaila did. Her research convinced her that something needed to be done in order to save the bee population and with some unique thinking, Mikaila is doing just that.
The idea is simple, Mikaila added bee honey to lemonade as a sweetener and started selling it. Apparently the flavor turned out to be fantastic but more importantly it helps support the bee communities. Mikaila’s honey flavored lemonade only buys responsibly sourced honey, and a significant portion of proceeds go to bee conservation groups to help overcome some significant environmental issues the bees are facing.
In just a matter of months Mikaila’s bee lemonade really started to gain popularity. She was even featured on a popular investment TV show and eventually made a great deal. This week she’s hit yet another incredible milestone, the bee lemonade is now going to be available in Whole Foods, a major US grocery chain. This is a huge deal for a small company like Mikaila’s and shows just how successful someone can be when they have a dream and a desire to make it happen.
Mikaila is regularly considered one of the best young entrepreneurs and this shows just how amazing her product has become. Plus it’s doing some great work for the bee colonies around the world. Many bees are dying off due to a variety of problems, many of which hare environmental. Fortunately there are some well established, and very proven approaches to helping the bee communities so Mikaila knows her contributions are in fact making a positive impact. It is only a matter of time to see just how successful this venture can become, but we do know that the underlying principles of helping the bees and the environment will always play a big role in Mikaila’s business.
