The Trevor project is the leading organization for suicide prevention among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered teens. Every year they recognize a person who serves as a role model or an inspiration to these teens. Radcliffe has spread the word and helped many during the time he has been helping out with the project. Other stars who have received the award are Nathan Lane, Dustin Lance Black, and the former Miss America Vanessa Williams.
Radcliffe who is appearing in the Broadway revival of “How to succeed in Business without really trying” said that he is not the real hero, those are the people who answer the phones 24 hours a day. He also said that this is one of his most important works and he is shy about receiving the award.
The Trevor project started in 1994 after a short film was released about a gay teenager who is rejected when he tells his friends the truth. The result was his attempted suicide. The organization has done a lot of good with suicide prevention since it started.
The last installment of the series “Harry Potter” with Daniel Radcliffe is scheduled for release this June. Radcliffe will continue his works with the Trevor project. He considers it one of the most important things he has ever done.
