Group Helps 183 Families During Holidays

This December, the Adopt A Family program in Estacada, Oregon helped 183 families have a better Christmas season.

Kiger-Hellard, One of the people involved in the program, said that it was another great year for the Adopt-A-Family program, and they wanted to thank all the volunteers and sponsors who helped make it a success because it shows that the community is able to reach out and help people from the heart.

Kiger-Hellard recruited volunteers and sponsors to participate in the program last fall, and got everything in order to help deliver the gifts and food to the families in need.

He said that there were many companies and people who wanted to help and that they worked throughout the area to get businesses and individuals to sponsor the families on the list.

Besides the businesses and individuals who sponsored families as part of the Adopt-A-Family program, Kiger-Hellard recruited a bunch of people to help coordinate the efforts and work needed to administer the yearly program.

The Adopt-A-Family program was developed to help make the holidays better for any families facing challenges, no matter if they are money related or related to other things. The program works totally by donations, sponsorships and hours and hours of volunteer work.

No matter if a family needs wood for their fireplace or gifts at Christmas time for their young children or food on their table, sponsors came forward to make the season one to remember for those families.

Kiger-Hellard said that he has seen grown men cry and mothers and kids be joyful and happy because of the gifts they receive. This is such as wonderful program.

If you would like to donate gifts or cash, be a sponsor or volunteer for the 2011 Adopt-A-Family program, e-mail Janet Kiger-Hellard at
