Big Donation from Small Donor

All too often there are indications that donations and charity work are declining in much of the United States but this week one very special donor decided to prove everyone wrong. Stevie Nelson, a 6 year old from Nebraska, decided that for his birthday he wanted to give rather than receive gifts.

More specifically Stevie wanted to give a donation to a local human society. According to Stevie the idea came after he saw a heartbreaking commercial on TV about human societies and how badly they were in need of donations; combine that with the fact that Stevie’s own two dogs had run away and the idea was formed.

According to Stevie the plan was only to raise about $6000 to donate to the human society; he hoped to continue this tradition by always donating one thousand dollars for each year since his birthday but this year things went different than expected. Dozens of larger donors and beneficiaries heard about Stevie’s heartwarming story and through the past few months thousands of dollars began to pour into his donation fund.

Eventually Stevie’s 6^th birthday rolled around and he was finally able to take his donation to the human society. Astonishingly Stevie was able to raise much more than six thousand dollars; the final count came to just under 26 thousand dollars. The human society is very grateful for such a generous and large donation but in the end Stevie is simply glad to have been able to help.

Haitian Earthquake Survivors Help Japanese

Very few people know the terrible experience of a massive earthquake so it only makes sense that survivors do their part to help after a major disaster. That is exactly what a group of people from Haiti are doing; following last year’s earthquake they were among the survivors and now they are helping in Japan as well.

The two boys from Haiti were moved to action after seeing what had happened. Despite still living in tents because much of Haiti still is not rebuilt the boys have decided to do what they can to help those affected in Japan.

The two boys are now officially working to collect anything and everything they can to send to Japan to help with the recovery effort. In order to help the boys are selling bracelets to raise funds and right now they have reportedly earned thousands of dollars to send.

No word on what else the boys are hoping to do but they have said repeatedly that they are hoping to expand their plans to raise even more money to send to Japan. The boys are also hoping to find a way to go to Japan and literally lend a helping hand, assuming they can manage to raise enough funds and donations.
