Scientists Reach Alzheimer's Breakthrough
This week a group of British medical researchers released a study that shows some very promising advances in terms of neurological diseases, in particular it was targeting Alzheimer’s. Essentially the study showed very dramatic results from a radical new treatment idea that was tested on mice in order to potential prevent the advancement of these diseases.
The test was conducted on lab mice, as many preliminary studies are, but doctors are incredibly hopeful that this will be viable for humans too. The group of mice that received the preliminary treatment was essentially immune to the disease that was introduced to them, the disease in question very closely mimics Alzheimer’s so this is very promising according to the researchers involved. Multiple follow-up studies and retrials are expected but overall the news is definitely very good. It is only a matter of time before a treatment like this leads to major success in treating people and many doctors are very hopeful that this is just such a breakthrough. No word yet on if or when it’ll be tested on humans but the end goal is to reach that point and potential create a vaccine of some sort against neurological diseases.
