Michigan Burn Victim Recovers Despite Odds Against Her

Michigan Woman Thankful For Holiday Recovery

When 79 year old Evelyn Clark of Weidman, Michigan was burned in a gasoline fire a few months ago, her family was told that she probably wouldn’t make it. But this year during the holidays they had something truly to be thankful for when she was released and was able to go home to her husband, children and grandchildren.

Clark had been burned with third degree burns over nearly 30 percent of her body on her arms, face and chest. The woman spent the past several weeks at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Michigan. She has gone through multiple skin grafts, as well as catching pneumonia and almost dying. The doctors at several points were certain she would not be coming home alive.

However, it has all turned out to have a much happier ending, as this Thanksgiving she is home and sharing many thanks and happier days than those many weeks earlier when she had the accident that put her in the hospital and nearly took her away from her loving family.

Clark’s husband, Jim is thankful that his wife is sharing the holiday season with him instead of being hospitalized or worse. The amazing woman has more healing to do, but for now she and her family are just glad that the doctors were wrong and she is still with them to celebrate.

Happy Thanksgiving indeed!
