Nine years old. Amira Willighagen is just nine years old, people. And listen to her voice.
She’s singing the opera song, O Mio Babbino Caro. The pause just before she starts it. Look how calm she is. In front of soooo many people.
At 26 secs, when she hits that high note, it’s just, wow. And her look of conviction and strength when she does it. And one of the judges’ reactions as well! Plus the other judge standing too, looking a bit lost!
And that’s all in the first 33 seconds!
Such a heartfelt performance. You can see her feeling every word; the passion, the way her head sways, her eyes closing.
1:31 - that high note again.
Amira sings a particular part and the judge at the end tosses his hands and stands up again like “this is too much talent, it’s ridiculous, I can’t take it.”
As she finishes, all judges are on their feet clapping – the crowd on their feet too! One the judges bows!
The video of Amira’s performance has only been up for less than a week and it’s on its way to 4 million views! Well deserved.

This is an incredible girl. Shelby Grebenc’s mother was taken sick with multiple sclerosis and at one point had to go into a nursing home. She did get stronger and returned home, but finances really took their toll on the whole family.
At 9 years old, just 9 years old, Shelby decided she was going to do something about her family’s financial situation. She could see how down her dad was. She really wanted to help – and her dad was open to it, though he didn’t just how far she’d go.
She decided farming would be the way to help out. Chicken farming — selling the eggs they laid.
With the aid of a loan from her grandmother, she bought several chickens and got stuck in – reared them, took care of them really well, all with little to no previous experience. Orders came in and she’d deliver the eggs personally, giving her service that special touch.
Shelby business brings in approximately $15,000 a year.
She’s 13 now. She’s still running the business. Her family are in a better place financially – her mother’s a bit healthier - so she’s now saving towards college.
What an impressive determined girl – having the initiative to come up with a way to help her family and to actually go out there and do it. Beautiful. Her parents, John and Nancy, must be so so proud of her. Her dad said, “I think we would have been homeless. We would have just…we would have lost it. She kept the wolf away from the door.”
