The first weekend in March, an estimated 2,000 Oxford volunteers will take to the streets in the city and work together to clean the area parks, streets, and public spaces during the annual Spring Clean. This is the fourth year for the event.

More than 118 community groups are going to be involved in this year and plan to collect trash and rubbish and any other debris they can to make the town cleaner. Last year they collected more than 10,000 Kilograms of trash.

Their goal is to keep their environment from being damaged or letting it hurt people or animals through the damage that can be done through waste and trash. They want to make lives easier for everyone in their community and help make it a cleaner and better place.

The spring clean is supported by the city council and the city civic society. The groups will be out cleaning the areas for two hours and the local trash companies will then take away all the trash. They have also begun a campaign against litter called “don’t drop it.”

The previous cleaning projects have helped people in the area take pride in their city and homes. It helps teach them that everyone must work together to help the environment and help keep things clean and tidy.

All in all, this program in the area is a fantastic way to not only bring the town’s citizens together in the fight against litter and trash, it is another way to help the environment of our planet, the Earth.
