New Breast Cancer Test Available
This week the largest medical testing company in the United States officially announced that they are going to begin offering breast cancer testing to the public using a radical new gene analysis method. The test is not new or particularly complicated and it is already used in some fashion by a few other companies but by adding in another testing company many doctors believe that the cost of breast cancer testing will likely go down dramatically.
Essentially the test analysis multiple genes found in a person’s DNA in order to detect abnormalities or strange occurrences that could develop into breast cancer. Doctors are quick to note that this is not a definitive test but it does in fact show whether a person is high risk or not for developing breast cancer. The good news is that because multiple companies will now be offering this preliminary screening the cost of the actual test will likely go down dramatically due to competition. Regardless of the price this is absolutely great news because millions of Americans will be able to get at least a glimpse of their genetic stance when it comes to breast cancer. No matter the results doctors encourage regular checkups, but this is still a good way to determine a person’s risk for breast cancer.

FDA Hopeful Regarding Radical Breast Cancer Drug
Breast cancer is one of the leading killers in much of the world, it is also the cancer that generally received the most research funding and as such doctors are hopeful there will be a treatment available soon. Well an FDA announcement this week definitely shows that some very positive progress has been made in that regard. According to the FDA, multiple patients that have been given a new drug in a trial run have shown very promising results.
This is absolutely amazing news because it is really the only step towards a successful treatment in the recent future. The drug was designed to be used as a treatment prior to surgery, making it the least invasive option and the results according to doctors were phenomenal. In the multiple trial patients across the United States the new drug was used prior to any type of surgery and it was found that the drug reduced tumor size by a noticeable amount. This is a big accomplishment according to doctors because it greatly reduces to damage when surgery is needed, plus it helps the body recover faster.
At this point the drug is obviously still experimental but doctors are hopeful that this FDA study will lead to more treatments soon. Many doctors are hopeful that a larger study will be conducted sometime this year.

Breast Cancer Drugs Can Reduce Risk
The risk of developing various cancers has been difficult to understand for many people. There is seemingly no connection between any health conditions and the development of cancers. Fortunately an independent task force released a study this week that has some promising news about breast cancer development.
According to the research panel, patients that are given small doses of two leading breast cancer treatments are significantly less likely to develop the cancer in the future. The study specifically targeted women that were considered high risk and much to the surprise of the medical experts the drugs did in fact have a very significant impact. This is absolutely great news because many doctors are hopeful that with some more research they will be able to effectively create a vaccine of sorts. Any sort of advancement in the field is great news because this is the next step towards eliminating the risk for breast cancer.
Many doctors and cancer research organizations are very hopeful that this will turn into a viable vaccine system. There is also some evidence that suggests this type of pre-treatment may work for risk reduction in a number of other cancers as well. Multiple follow up studies are being conducted right now to determine how effective this could be.

Breast Exams Prove Valuable
For years doctors and medical researchers have been fighting over whether or not breast exams and mammograms were worth the time, risk, and cost associated with them for women over 40 and today we have solid proof that they are worth it. The report published this week shows that those women that do receive consistent and frequent mammograms are significantly less likely to have major developers of cancer go undetected.
Breast cancer is a big problem and without routine screening it is nearly impossible to do anything about. That is precisely why doctors are now saying that mammograms and other screening methods are most definitely worth the time and money every single year. As more and more women have began to routinely get screened they’ve shown significant reductions in late detection of breast cancer which is great news for everyone.
Perhaps the only major drawback to frequent testing reported was the increased chance of false positive reports. Doctors say these are far from common and overall the risk is most definitely worth the time given how significant the potential reward can be. Doctors are now encouraging women to have a mammogram as often as possible to increase the length of their lives. A simple mammogram really can drastically change and save lives which is absolutely amazing news for anyone and everyone. Doctors and medical experts say this could be the best step forward in breast cancer research and it is also one of the simplest to do so do your part today.
