Now this right here…is so beautiful; the connection between a 5-year-old boy (Ryan Wang) and a 101-year-old woman (Dorothy Landry); between a piano prodigy and a woman who admires, respects and really enjoys listening to him play.

They were brought together by CBC Music for a special private performance.

Holding his teddy bear, Ryan says, “I like playing for Dorothy. I think it makes her happy.”

Dorothy first met Ryan when he was just three.

“He’s a very special little person,” she says. He thanks her for that and thanks her for coming to watch him. She thanks him for the invite and that she’s very honoured.

He then goes over and hugs her.

Awwww.

They hold hands; she wishes him a great trip to China and to come see her on his return.

They hold hands a bit longer, saying nothing, just looking at each other.

They let go. He holds his teddy and he’s crying.

Such a tender moment shared between two souls.

Just watching Ryan play, teddy bear on his piano, him leaning in, his fingers playing with such expertise and dedication, is a joy to see. He plays delightfully. And then watching Dorothy watching him, her smile - you can tell she’s enjoying it immensely. Then watching them together - beauty with beauty.
