Thousands Receive Jobs After GM Changes Plans
Two years ago in Springhill Tennessee thousands of auto workers received the news they dreaded; General Motors was planning to shut down the manufacturing plant. This was absolutely terrible news for those that needed the income from the jobs to survive but fortunately today they have received some good news. Initially many of the workers packed up and moved to other manufacturing towns but now they are slated to return as GM announced that they would be reopening the plant.
The revival of the Springhill plan brings new life to the town as approximately 6400 jobs have been promised to the area. It is not going to be an immediate revival but GM promises that all of the jobs will in fact be filled in the coming years. As for now, former GM employees are simply happy to hear that they will in fact be able to regain their jobs with GM.
Obviously many of the former GM employees have either moved out of the area, retired, or found entirely new jobs; but for those still interested GM is rehiring everyone that is interested. The hiring is beginning soon and will be based on a number of factors but overall the small town is just happy to see that a giant corporation like GM actually cares enough to hire small town workers. GM is planning to create jobs like this all around the country as well so it could be good news for thousands more people soon.
